Writing by students in Year 8

Everyone come listen to this. I’ve got a story to tell you like you’ve never heard before.

I was just 13 years old and I was going to school in Sydney, Australia.

Sometimes Mum would pick me up after school, sometimes I’d catch the bus but my Dad never picked me up.

But on this particular day it was Dad who came.

When I got out of class and had walked to the exit gate, he was there waiting for me as if it was perfectly normal.

“Hi Dad,” I said and punched him on the arm like I always did..

“G’day sunshine,” he responded, and punched me on the arm like he always did. Just then a stranger in a black suit came up to me. He was wearing dark sunglasses and a white tie.

“He looks like he’s from the movie MIB,” I thought.

“I hear you interested in traveling at near the speed of light,” he said, his voice a Keanu Reeves husky bass.

I was out in the bush, a cold sunny windy day. I was near a river, just sitting down. I would usually be asleep but for some reason, I couldn’t fall asleep. So I walked down to the river hoping there might be a fish I could catch when I saw a strange long brown thing sitting on top of the water. It was a peculiar thing, it was long and brown like a hollow log and had 4 straight long brown sticks that went in and out of the water.

Alex: Hey Nelson! Do you know what you have to do?

Nelson: Yeah. I know what I have to do. I know my lines.

Fast forward:

Nelson: I know I know it looks pretty bad but it’s not my fault for burning down the school you see Mr Carffathatholis gave me a detention for playing with the Bunsen burner in class. (9th one this year) so I thought I would teach him a lesson for a change. So, you see it wasn’t my fault it was Mr Carffathatholis’ fault. You know he had it coming?….right?

Police and Mr Carffathatholis: Continue reading

I got an A on my homework.

Today I got a dog

And today I lied straight to your face.

You see I only tell the truth once a week and only to you.

Oh, and I love your shoes.

And that’s the truth.

I lie once a week

and I always tell the truth

even when I am not supposed to

Did I mention today is opposite day?

Well, I guess I lied.

Oh and I love your dress it looks cute on you.

I want to be a formula one driver

I want to go fast in a car

Through the day and night

Race on a track

Faster than Daniel Riccardo

Go hypersonic

Blast

Like a rocket

I want to rush like the wind

On a motorbike

Tilting very low

Knee almost touching the ground

Wearing a white helmet

Then rearing up like an angry horse

Roar

Like a lion

I want to go as fast as the speed of light

In a rocket

Shooting up high

Soaring in the sky

Rushing past the solar system

Boom

Like the Big Bang

What if you could

Run faster than the speed of sound?

You could make a lot of money off that
